For Scanning Your Artwork Yourself and Sending A Digital Copy by Email:
Images should be scanned at 300 dpi or greater at a minimum size of 3.6″ wide X 2.1″ high and saved in CMYK color mode in one of the following file formats: PSD, TIF, EPS, PDF, BMP.
If submitting a complete pre-produced card layout via the web, your design must meet these guidelines:
Send as a EPS File
The preferred format is CMYK mode EPS file with all fonts converted to outlines. We do accept QuarkXPress 8 or Adobe Creative Suite CS3 and CS4 files with your fonts and images included. If using these page layout programs, please include a “Print Quality” PDF of your design with your fonts outlined. This will insure that there are no problems imaging your file.
Send as a Photoshop File
The layout should be sized to 3.6″ wide X 2.1″ high for business cards and 3.475″ wide X 2.225″ High for Credit (Gift or Loyalty Cards) size at 300 dpi. Make sure all text is inside a 3/16″ border to allow for cropping. Please see our Photoshop® design template for these specifics. For best results, please send us your original “layered” Photoshop® file. To conserve space you may also choose to send a “flattened” image as long as it has a minimum resolution of 300 dpi or greater at the “actual size” it will be printed at. Your file needs to be saved in CMYK color mode as a high-quality .psd, .tif, .eps, .pfd, .bmp.
Some Notes about Trims and Bleeds
Due to variances in die cutting, submitting a card design with a “framed border” is not recommended. A possible slight shift in die cutting will cause the printed frame border to appear off center or uneven. Image “bleed” is recommended. Images should fill the background completely beyond the edges of the card so it will be trimmed off. The image must extend beyond the trim area so that color will go edge to edge. Please setup your image bleed to the specifications outlined within the template for the plastic card product you are going to be ordering.
